Do you like the alternating schedule of fic, icon, fic, icon, etc.?

I think that implementing the old system wouldn't be a bad idea. I always eye the icon challenges warily.

Would you like another round to open over the holiday, or would you rather see the current challenge simply extended?

I think the current challenge is fine the way it is. Now, holding off on a new one until the 2nd Annual Challenge is over... :D

Right now, the word count limit is 500-750. Would you like this limit lowered? Raised? Both? Works as is?

A couple of my entries have suffered because I've had to cut them down to 750 words. But I'd probably lose interest in voting if all the stories were hella-long.

Is there any interest in a prompt recommendation post/suggestion box?

This could possibly be epic.

* Though, the icon challenges would still be done.. just on a different schedule, perhaps?

* I'm thinking we've given you guys enough to do to run around screaming.. but I just have to check! :)

* Well, I wouldn't suggest LONG entries, unless it's a BIG challenge, ala Seasonal Challenge 01, but I know some folks have had issues in the past with getting the bare minimum. I guess the other issue is how much a person wants to read.

*Well, we can only come up with so many ideas and, clearly, not all of them make it out of the park ;)

Do you like the alternating schedule of fic, icon, fic, icon, etc.? Or would you rather stick to the old system, of image prompts, quote prompt, image prompt, quote prompt, etc.? -- I'm not sure I understand this question. I thought all the contest were prompts? Were they being run at the same time? "This week's icon contest and fic contest is..."?

If that is true, I think I like the alternating schedule better. Gives time to recover before the next contest.

Is there any interest in a prompt recommendation post/suggestion box? i.e. You submit THREE (3) to FIVE (5) images, a quote you like, some plotline you'd like to see tackled, etc. -- Yes, I think you should have that on a permanent link in the sidebar. Unless it is easier to notify the mods through messages.

I think I'm ready to play now, but I'm willing to wait until holiday insanity is over.

Feel free to browse through the old challenge tags there in the sidebar for an idea - the prompts took turns, as they do now. Currently, however, it was a plot prompt and an iconning prompt, whereas the old way was an image or a quote to prompt your plot.

Unless it is easier to notify the mods through messages.

Not sure - I have serious issues with PMs, in general - which is why I'm trying to get a feel. There would obviously be a link, but I'm more interested in seeing if you guys would like to be the ones to offer general ideas or not. :)

Didn't realize you guys were being that particular. I was thinking that anything could be a prompt whether for fic or graphic: image, quote, idea, etc.

Will browse when I get a chance.

I like both. Doesn't matter to me.

Another round! I have time!

Anything is fine with me.

The limit works for me.

Eh, not a big deal on the points thing. I participate just to write :)

Oh, prompt recommendation, I like that.

You're so helpful. *moose ears*

You do bring up a good point, though - because that's always another option if it's the 'doing this for a vote'-bit that has people not participating; dropping the point system and simply writing to write. Participation banners, etc. Icons could get a 'fan favorite' vote, or something.

Hey, I answered! If I'm vague well.....

I don't mind the points and ranking. It's nice to have that. When I have the time to participate though, it's a writing exercise for me :)

I can't think properly to give you answers to most... but I have to say the point/ranking system makes sense to keep as is. Say one fic gets first place in 3/5 votes, and second in the other two... and then another fic gets third place in 2/5 votes and second in the other three... giving one point per vote would give them both five points. They would be tied, though one fic is clearly more liked than the other. See what I'm saying? The only way the one point per vote would work is if each person only voted for one fic, not giving a first, second, third place.

Clear as mud! :) -E

I agree that the weighted helps, but I had to ask - I know some icontests go with the 1=1 vote, but, as you say - it only makes sense if you want ONE result. *chalks it up to the learning process*

naturalbluicons pointed me to a handy votes counter that I am in love with and want to snuggle until it turns blue. You can set it to weight the votes however you like and it does ALL the work! :D

Halp, halp, I can't keep up. *is piled under by challenges, exchanges, that big table and other fandoms on top* You people do extremely admirably if you juggle all these and your regular fics and lives on the side. O.O Salutations and all that, highly admirable of everyone.

I'd appreciate keeping the icon challenges around as they are now, since that's something I actually may be able to manage personally. I don't think anywhere else does those in this fandom anymore, hence curiosity now that I've gotten involved. Did you see my further question relating to that being new thing in the screened comments 4B Glitch post, btw?

♣ I like the fic-icon schedule. The old system only seems to work for fics. As to the prompts, it depends on them individually if anything stirs any ideas in someone who rarely writes or is only gearing toward it slowly again.

♣ New round? I'm not keeping up either way I imagine, but new round helps level my settings, or something? Random. Which might be holidays since that's random, too, and unlikely to ( ... )

Sorry for the delay ;)

+ We like to keep your options open :)

+ Originally, the old system didn't include icons, because there was an icon challenge community. When it went belly-up, this comm was retooled slightly, to allow for that. Some folks are better with icons and some with fanfic, etc.

+ The idea was to have the limit be something of at least 100 words, but no more than 1,000 - some folks have to pull teeth to 500, others, cutting down to 750, etc.

+ The suggestion box will be put into effect - most likely for the new year - because we can only come up with so many ideas on our own :)

It's just your basic change of ownership-confusion around here :) --E
