We're going to try something a little different for this round. The First Place winner of our last fic-round,
oddsbobs, was asked to suggest a prompt for the new round. Due to a miscommunication, this prompt is a mix between her original idea and what a certain mod *ahem* thought she meant.
Prompt: I've Seen This Show... - Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to rewrite a scene, fill the commercial break, come up with something completely new... anything goes. However, there is a catch - isn't there always? You're going to merge Tin Man with another TV show. Drama, comedy, reality, documentary, infomercial... Animal Planet... ANY TV SHOW!
Now, this isn't a crossover - well, it is, but not that kind of a crossover. You will put the characters of Tin Man into the other show and play the story/scene out in that setting. But, they'll still be the Tin Man characters.
Some examples: (and you're free to use any of these, if you're feeling rather insane)
♦ As the Suns Turn - The matriach of the city's oldest family has just found out that her daughter - who supposedly died 20 years ago - is back in town. A former policeman is trying to reconnect with his rebel son, who is on a mission to avenge his mother's murderer -who's currently on the police force-. The star of the local theater is hiding a not-so-secret addiction to hallucenogenic drugs. And the father of the girl who isn't dead is making back-door deals with a mysterious foriegner in the seedy part of town. Just another day in Central City...
♦ NCIS:Finaqua - Wyatt Cain leads a team of investigators solving crimes against the military forces of the Outer Zone. And, since it's Navy, they'd be where the water is. Glitch is the nerdy tech, Princess DG is the snarky, royal liasion attached to Cain's team and Raw is the new probie. But, what happens when a case gets too close to home for the team and one of their own is suspected of possessing a national treasure?
♦ Real World: Milltown - What could be more fun than trapping six strangers in a single house, in the middle of NOWHERE with nowhere to go but the hot tub and, then, give them some weirdly-random task - like finding an emerald that's been missing for 20 years - to complete, which will end up splintering the housemates and sending someone crying to the Vue Room?!
♦ Behind the Music: The Mystic Man - He had a life of glitz and glamour, but there was something hiding behind the curtain. Follow the tragic story of a man who started small and ended up part of the 'in crowd', only to be brought back down by the Vapors.
So, long story short WAY too late: We aren't looking for Jack Harkness in the Outer Zone. We're looking for Wyatt Cain running the Zone's version of Torchwood, with DG as the spunky new recruit who was in the wrong place and the wrong time; Raw as the quiet, unassuming negotiator of the group, and Glitch, as the snarky, go-to tech guy.
Probably could have gone with a simple "Put the characters of Tin Man into a TV show. GO!", Yes?
