The ball had been something she hadn't really been physically or mentally prepared for. But, as far as new social situations went, it was a very... different experience. She'd never been around so many military men before; everything felt so proper and regal, like she'd been swept into a rich world of diamonds, gold and expensive fabrics that she'd never seen before ( ... )

He paused in his pebble throwing, frowning a bit. Maybe she was already asleep. Maybe he should forgo the old, childish form of attention-getting and just call her phone, he thought. But then the window opened and the face of his angel graced him.

He tossed the rest of the pebbles to the ground and held his hands out to his sides. He was no longer wearing his military uniform, but was still rather nicely dressed for that time of night, his hair still in the tight bun the military dress code demanded.

Xigbar let himself laugh at her dark sense of humor. He scratched at the back of his exposed neck for a second before he gave her a short wave and lead the horse towards the front door to wait patiently.

He sighed and leaned against Banquo's shoulder, whistling some random tune until he heard the door click open. He looked up from his feet and grinned widely at the one who stepped from the door.

"Well, I was thinking of this little place I always loved to go when I wanted to be alone... but it's a little distance away, so I asked my friend here if he'd help out. He didn't seem to mind."

That said, he turned and mounted the beast. Afterwards, he held his hand out to the blonde, a warm smile on his lips.

"Not too scared of heights, are ya?"
