I've always thought the stuff about "Britishness" was mainly a Brownite attempt to head off tabloid criticism that there are too many Scots in govt. I'm also not too keen on the idea of having a bank holiday in June. There are 2 in May as well as Easter Monday and Good Friday so I think it would be better having one in October or November to break up the long time between the end of August and Christmas Eve.
