Bridal Party Attire

My best girlfriends are all going to be my bridesmaids. There are 4 of them. Maybe they will all come here to discuss their dresses (hint, hint!). The only stipulation I made on them was that the dress be black and wearable again. I don't want them to spend hundreds of dollars on something that will sit in the closet and collect dust. Although, the ( Read more... )

I agree that the first two photos are the best. #4 (all pale pink) isn't too bad because all the dresses are made of similar materials. That would make a difference in photos because the flash would reflect differently to make the dresses color look different. (Or maybe not...)

What was great about the first two is that all the dresses are more or less same length as well. I think that's a key point. I once was a bridesmaid where we each had different lengths and it just looked odd.

I think this is a great idea and i like the photos near the top the best in terms of how it worked.

My #1 regret about my wedding is my bridesmaid dresses, it was impossible. I wish i could have done "choose your own" thing but a few of my BM's hate clothes shopping and refuse to do it, so i know they would have put it off to the last minute. And then i had 5 BM's with 5 completely different body types and sizes (from size 8 to size 22), and i didn't know as much then about what looks flattering on different body types. I still feel badly about how i screwed that up (and the final dresses weren't that bad or anything--just not flattering on everyone like i had hoped and attempted to do). So i hope it all turns out well for you! Sorry to type out my whole saga ;).

No worries! It's good to hear stories. I was once in a wedding where the MOH was the largest of the crowd so the bride let her pick the dress. It looked horrendous on me and it cost me almost as much as the dress in alterations to have it cut down to fit me.

Watters & Watters & Netbride tlew12778 August 11 2005, 14:43:18 UTC
Just on a whim I asked Netbride for a quote on a few Watters gowns. I just wanted an idea. They got back to me and none of the gowns I listed were more than $150! Woohoo! Granted... I am not saying everyone should get watters gowns as we have no idea what quality is like or anything, but it's a good, reasonably priced option.

These are the style numbers and prices:
487 $138
580 $120
618 $126
641 $140
681 $120
684 $119
735 $127

There would be no tax and shipping is $10 per designer (so if only one designer then $10, if 2 designers $20, presuming all dresses go to the same address).

Here are a couple dress from bluefly.com that I liked, if we do end up going with the floor length idea.

The Nicole Miller cowl back is elegant and looks like it would be flattering on various body types.
