I've been in touch with 3 photographers. My favorite one also happens to be the cheapest. Wedding Photos Here are some examples of their work:( Read more... )
Hey Tiffany :). i'm glad you figured out who i was. Love that photojournalistic approach! It reminds me of our wedding photographer (she was a photojournalist for Chicago's main newspaper). I have a link to them from a week ago if you want to snag any for ideas :).
I have to agree with you on Morlotti. The colored pictures are done very well and are very classy, which I usually think is easier to acheive with black n white. For black n white I like Valentini. I like how both photographers really pay attention to the little details that make the wedding. :)
I sent an e-mail to the Weddingphotos team to find out about signing a contract and they sent me back a really poorly written e-mail saying that they have a form on their website from which I can choose which package of services I want (not which package of photos I want, but which service as in photos/video/album), after which I can send a deposit. I actually filled out this form when I first contacted them and it kept giving me an error message which is how I ended up just e-mailing them directly. I was hoping for a better response from them actually. I haven't filled out the form yet.
Instead of filling out the form I sent an e-mail to Morlotti to get his price list and see what he has to say. I still prefer weddingphotos though I think.
Morlotti wrote me back and said that his prices start at EUR 2000 and that we should set an appointment to see his work and personalise a package. I think we'll set an appointment and see how close he comes to Weddingphotos' package.
Well it looks like I have to go see Morlotti alone bc he told me that the first Saturday he has free is October 29th! I wanted to take C. along with me to see what he thinks but that's clearly not happening. So I guess I will just go and see whether or not it's worth dragging C. along for a second appt then take it from there.
It turns out that Morlotti is just as expensive as the weddingphotos team. And while I like Morlotti, I don't love him, but I love weddingphotos. I was really just seeing Morlotti to appease my conscience since I hadn't really done any comparison shopping. His packages were very weird as they all included the same thing - approximately 1000 digital photos on CD plus one album with approximately 90 photos. The differences were in who shot your photos. For 2000 euro you got the assistant, for 2300 euro you got him, for 2800 euro you got both of them.
Weddingphotos, on the other hand, always shoots in pairs. Their packages start at 2500 euro and go up to 3500 euro and they shoot roughly 800 film photos regardless of your package. There were actual differences in what was included in each package. I will post weddingphotos offer tomorrow when I get back to the office. I plan on going to contract with them this week. I have absolutely no doubts now

Massimiliano Morlotti
He's a little bit cheaper I think and he's actually local.
Just for reference sake this is the list of Italian photojournalists belonging to the Wedding Photojournalist Association.
