I was just looking at your blog...I'm glad Sophie's had such an awesome first year. She's beautiful and seems really happy, and you write well. Glad to see that you're still traveling a lot.
I was looking at articles about giftedness the other day. Thought it was kind of wacky that they have a simple test for giftedness in infants: babies who are more easily habituated and have a preference for novelty usually end up testing as gifted later in life.
Saw a lot of parallels for what people might interpret to be things like ADHD, or mood disorders. This research on gifted people shows a very different way of interpreting and working with these things in the context of giftedness, which I think is probably much more helpful than the DSM based stuff, which just doesn't seem to fit as well. Anyhow, thought you might this springboard for it interesting and maybe helpful, if you haven't already read these things...if Sophie's not gifted, I will eat my hat. (I hope you don't take offense.)
