Today is graduation. I was planning to walk in the ceremony, but now I'm not so sure. My sister with whom I live had back surgery a month ago. It was serious but not major. She's been careful since her surgery but yesterday she overdid it and is in a lot of pain. She called in sick to work and I'm pretty sure she's not going to feel up to going to ( Read more... )

In all honesty, I would go. Maybe it's not something that you'll have people in 'your seats'. You always have people in your corner. If I could drive down there for it, I'd be there! I totally would. I'm so very proud of you.

But more than that, YOU should be proud of you. Go, make the walk, smile like you've accomplished something that is very important, and go home. If at the end of it, the walk turns out to mean nothing, then so what. But it isn't something you should regret later. You can forget about it if you want to, but you can't go and do it later.

Regret the things you've done, not the things you didn't do.

Go, and do it with the knowledge that all of us are in your seats!

YOU ARE SO AWESOME!

Go! I walked my grad school ceremony two years ago on my own.

I'm sure I could have gotten either my sis or brother to come down if I'd asked, but they live 300+ miles away and it isn't easy for them to travel. And my friends here are not close friends - more like lunch and go to the occasional event friends, not 'sit through your graduation' friends.

It did feel a bit odd at times - but not that odd. And it absolutely gave me a good feeling of accomplishment and of putting the exclamation point on the sentence, so to speak. :).

Walk the stage, you've earned it. Even though we can't physically be there, you know we will all be cheering you from afar.

*hugs* So very proud of you.

I agree with the other comments. This is an important moment and you earned it. Celebrate with pride and then celebrate with your sister as well.
