"the Doctor had a stick up his ass". I'll say it again. YOu do know how to turn a phrase!! And it fits Nine especially.

You know, for someone who was so dismissive of people much of the time, it was strange how many times he forgave and covered up for Rosie. I wonder if RTD ever realized exactly what he wrote? I became disillusioned and down-right annoyed with Rosie very early on, and this was based solely on what I saw on the screen. And long before my Donna-love ever really developed!

Oh, lordy... Crack!fic alert: Nine pulls the stick out of his arse to swat Rosie out of the TARDIS. *cacklefit*

If he has even half the God complex that Moffat seems to, then I doubt it. I have the feeling that by the time I've finished my viewing for "The Noble Girl", I'll have no respect for Rose left in canon. Not even a hint of hope of it left.

Oh, now that is a scene we all need to see! And Chris would have been maginficent at it.

As I've said to a number of people, I don't give a fig about what RTD or SM or anyone SAYS about the relationship between Rose and the Doctor, (or about Ten and Donna, for that matter), or about Rose's personality. I only know what I SAW on the screen. And I SAW an immature, self-centered, Earth/human-centric, spolied, man-hungry, manipulative little girl.

*Sigh* Why aren't we in charge?!

*snickers* It might turn into one of my next May stories. :DDDD

Yeah, I can't believe the writer when I can see holes in their logic. One of the things I've read while studying for revising my NaNo story is that if you think of yourself as the creator, you resist making changes and seeing the flaws. If you see yourself as the steward of the story, then you're willing to do what the story needs instead. They could use that lesson.

Hmm... Might turn that into a post onto itself... :DDDDD

I started out liking Rose. I did. Honestly it wasn't until Ten showed up that I started to notice all the clingy, whiny, childish crap she was pulling. After that, it was downhill for Rosie-poo. I did go back and watch her with Nine, and I picked up annoying behavior from her then too.

It's amazing what perspective and a rewatch can do. I hadn't seen much of "Rose" until I started writing "The Noble Girl" and needed to check for details from the episode. I simply can't believe that anyone would make her a main character for anything. A side character, yes, because those don't have to be anywhere NEAR as fleshed out as the main characters MUST be.

You know, I never thought about him dumping her this early on, but now that I think about it, it's perfect! The next year of adventures would've been SOO much more interesting traveling with Mickey and Jack. Not to mention sparing poor jack centuries of heartache.

I admit I originally was a doctor/rose fan but then series three came, and Donna showed-up and suddenly I was completely over Rose all-together. I think the Doctor initially needed someone like Rose to get him out of his funk but long-term she wasn't the best thing for the him.

Very much so. And a lot would've had to be re-written to ensure Earth's safety. But the whole Miracle Day thing would never have happened for sure. And THAT would be an improvement.

Really? Well, that's interesting. I'm afraid I never had a real fan phase toward Rose. More of a state of not knowing enough to have an opinion one way or the other. I only finally watched "Rose" last year to complete a story for a friend's birthday in August last year. I'll be watching more of Series 1 to complete more stories for her sake.

Anyway, thank you. This might help me resume writing again.

Yeah, I question my sanity a little bit whenever I re-watch some Rose episodes. I suspect it was more to do with the fact I started on the series with series 1 thanks to a friend. If I had been started as of series 3 or 4, that may have changed my entire perspective on Rose. I can say one thing though, I was never happy with the way she treated Mickey.

Yay for resuming writing! I'll keep an eye out!

As a writer, I was trying to figure out how to write plots and see how characters had or didn't have agency. Anyway... let's just say I nearly face-palmed myself several times. If you're wondering which story, look up the series tag "series: the noble girl". I think I'm going to start again on the next one in the series.

And I practically started with series 4. So you can imagine how much that skews my perspective.

Again, thank you. :D
