At least I didn't want to punch River in the throat during this, thanks to the Doctor's reaction to her (and your treatment, obviously). That
“You're not learning it until you cease presuming you're important to me.”
was very satisfying to read.

And his explanation when he teleported Donna away
“Donna, let me explain. I don't trust her to not have some trap set for you. I need you safely away, and if you're in the TARDIS then you can help with scans and even perhaps move her to pick me up. You know enough that I think you can do it.”
is far superior to the Moffat lines.

Yes, well, he's got fresh memories of the VN, which adds to the other changes. Her reaction to his words last time ensured that he would react a bit differently here.

He needed to explain that, and I felt that Eight would give Donna an explanation. I've been going through the Dark Eyes stories and noticed that during his darkest periods Eight sank pretty deeply into the trap of not explaining things enough. Donna would knock him out of that habit.

Am wondering what you'll make of the rest of the story. :)

Part01 of review:

“What are you talking about? Are you just talking rubbish? Do you know him or don't you? Because he clearly doesn't know or trust you.”

“Donna, I'm concentrating,” interrupted the Doctor, sharper than his usual tone yet nothing like the argument they had had before coming.

“Sorry,” she said, just loud enough that he could hear. And she knew it was quieter than Humans would believe.

River's eyes widened as they fixed on Donna's face. Or more accurately, her eyes. “Donna. You're Donna. Donna Noble.”

So Donna’s eyes are the most recognizable part of her then? Is it possibly because a lot of her (and the Doctor’s) children have her eyes or were most history book descriptions of her/the DoctorDonna vague about what she actually looked like other than her eyes?
OR does the metacrisis that will happen in her future change what her eyes look like so River is double checking by looking at Donna’s eyes to see if the metacrisis has happened for her yet?

“Yeah. Why?” she replied, after a few seconds silence ( ... )

Part02 of review:

River recoiled. “I would never cause harm to the most important woman in the universe!” she snapped. “It'd be very bad if something happened to her here.”

Is she still using the information from the first timeline where Donna unwillingly ended her traveling with the Doctor after the metacrisis? Or was it from seeing what Donna’s eyes look like? Also if she still has the memories from the first timeline wouldn’t she be wondering about Donna traveling with Eight instead of Eleven (Ten to River’s knowledge)?

“No,” whispered the Doctor, feeling his universe fall out from under him.

“No, no, no!” the Doctor wailed.

The Doctor did not hear any of the repeating words. He only thought about how he had failed his best friend, who stirred so many confusing feeling within him.

But the Doctor remained silent, numbed to his surroundings and trapped within his own mind.I love seeing how effected Eight is when he thinks that Donna has died…I mean it definitely made me tear up but it definitely shows that he cares a great ( ... )
