But there are other ways to avoid thinking about unpleasant shit that matters. That's what I use roller derby for. And, conversely, remaking My Little Ponies. And running Zombie 5K's. And reading. And writing...all of these things are better than spending the day dwelling on shit that doesn't matter just so you don't have to dwell on shit that does.

Distractions usually work. Unfortunately I was at work most of the day and kept having to deal with stupidity, which... didn't help.
