Author’s Notes: Emily James is an OFC that I created a while back for Numb3rs fic that I write. This is actually an AU version of her. She's the best friend of mustangcandi's OFC Callie Walker and she's new to the FBI team. Thanks to my beta, mustangcandi for encouraging me to post. I've been terrified of drabbles recently and I wouldn't have posted this without her approval. : )

Don looked on as Emily approached the building that the suspect was in. Her hands were in the air and as far as the criminal knew, she was unarmed. He was surprised when the door opened just enough for the two of them to exchange words.
He squinted his eyes, as if this would help him better overhear the conversation. He hadn’t cleared her to go in and he wasn’t sure what the hell she was doing, but he knew one thing: he didn’t like it.
The door opened and an instant exchange was made. Emily was now the hostage.
