ok sounds flippant but I didn't mean it to be really - I'm guessing he's going to have to do round the tops anyway to meet in with the ceiling so its not a huge amount of extra work to skim the rest while he's got all the gear set up.
But its looking good dudes :-) :-) :-)
(sure that light fitting wasnt there before though) ;-)
Think lunar surface. :-( I tried to fill some of the pitting and used most of the pot in a very short area!
We are now very aware of the age of the house, for example the original 100year old plaster has clumps of hair in it. This means it is probably lime plaster, now quite 'in' amongst greenies, although not vegan in this version. But I am pretty sure the hair is not meant to be in clumps!
If it's lots of small pits then lining paper still might do the trick. Our living room plaster was falling to bits so we filled in the biggest holes fairly roughly and then papered over. Having said that, in the flat when we stripped the bedroom wallpaper and found there were polystrene tiles underneath, the glue of which couldn't be removed or sanded down, Ed found it was fairly straightforward to skim over the top, providing you buy the right sort of plaster. Although I think with hindsight we might have just as well lined it (didn't know about lining paper then)
It's a bit of a mixture of craters, but still might be linable.
Tim is going to talk to the guy at work (who did our bathroom) about it tomorrow. The guy skimmimg the ceiling (hopefully Dave's brother the builder) might be able to skim the walls too while he is at it for not much extra loot. Especially as the ceiling is now higher than it was so already needs plaster adding around the top of the walls.
