From the top of the tower, the world was just blackness, wind, and the ocean of stars above us. It was surreal, how empty and silent the city was, not a single light save the glow of the base beneath us. The longer we stayed here, the more trouble I had remembering when Kensington was alive.
"Remember when they were going to nuke this place?" I asked. "Imagine if they did that now. If all of this was just over."
I felt Mason take my hand, his fingers knotting tightly around mine.
"I'd be okay with that," he said softly.
