Title: Lords of Kensington, Part 16
Word Count: 2111

Note: I didn't forget about the Coronation Masquerade, the high-society event that Katrina managed to convince Ryder to attend with her. Of course, black tie events require shopping and what better chance to show our dynamic duo acting like normal people, even with all the bizarre crap ( Read more... )

YAY FLUFFY! I can kinda see why this is set in an AU, even if it's canon now. Ryder touches her so much and smiles at her all the time like a person in love. And the little flush at the end ee! <3

The funny thing is that in writing Mea's story (Ryder's sister), I'm realizing that Ryder is actually a really tactile person. When he and Mea lived together he constantly would hug her, mess up her hair, sling his arm around her shoulders... he was incredibly affectionate with her and I think her death made it extremely difficult for him to be like that for a long, long time.

In the regular story you see it with Rebekah and Eli, too, how he'll hug them or touch them in some manner (he loves to play with Bekah's hair, I've noticed). But when someone touches him he flinches, kind of like he doesn't realize it's happening when he does it but when someone does it to him he registers it as wrong?

I enjoy this very... personal look into his character. I think in these moments with Kat he gets to be human, and he's really forgotten how to do that over the centuries.

I would also think that little flush was cute if it weren't for the fact it's probably hiding some very naughty thoughts. *snickers*

You know he struck me as the sort. And I TOTALLY get the whole, "I like to touch other people but fuck them touching me first", because I'm JUST like that.

Kat is good for him. So are naughty thoughts! *evil grin*
