I'm completely lost as to how this reminds you of pastor's class ... unless it's me bantering that reminds you ... which is downright depressing now that i think about it ;)
i know what the song is from shawshank. it's from "the marriage of figaro." if you want to know what it's about, i'll tell ya. otherwise i'll let you stay in your bliss. :)
it is the two main female characters in the show, the countess and her maid susannah. the song is called "duettino - sull'aria."
background: the marriage between the count & countess has stalled, and he has been unfaithful to her. so part of the opera is the countess' attempts to rekindle the love with her husband.
susannah assists her, and they write a false note on behalf of the count. this note is a request for susannah to meet him in the garden, and it is part of a plot for the countess to "discover" them and accuse the count and get him to snap out of it. of course, the twist is that susannah is engaged to another servant in the house, so she would not really betray the countess, but it is known that the count does find susannah attractive.
it's full of beautiful language about meeting in the garden by a certain tree.
now i want to listen to it, and my cd's are at home!
