A question for the music buffs . . .

Sep 23, 2006 15:25

Do any of my faithful readers happen to know where the music in this trailer comes from? It's so beautiful, and combined with those haunting images from old movies, it really gets to me. If you have any idea what it is, let me know, because I would love to get a better recording of it.

music, eerie stuff, old movies

Oh, damn. I used to know that. It's in a lot of old movies. Is it from Swan Lake, maybe? *sigh* I really should know this... Feh.

Hmm, it is sort of Swan Lake-ish. The only part of that I'm familiar with is the segment they always play at the beginning of Universal monster movies, though. I shall investigate this possibility.

Haha, yeah, LiveJournal likes to randomly sign you out from time to time.

Yeah, this music is driving me crazy. I listened through all the sample tracks of Swan Lake on Amazon.com, and it doesn't seem to be from that. I'm guessing it's late 19th/early 20th century, but that doesn't narrow the options too much. Hmm . . .

although it sounds pretty swan lakey i dont think it is from a ballet or something- i think it was probably some piece composed for a particular old movie, so finding out who did it is gonna be tricky. i found this website which has some nice audio clips, but unfortunately not this song. http://www.mmmrecordings.com/
maybe your best bet is to write to the kino website and ask!?

Wow, that's an awesome website. Gives me some ideas for my christmas presents for my brother. Yeah, I've been thinking about writing to Kino, too. Surely someone there will know.
