John just says stuff like that to cause discussion. If anyone were to buy TiVo it would be Apple or either DirectTV or EchoStar (if any had enough cash to do it that is). My dream scenario would be to have Apple and TiVo license tech to each other so I can just use iTunes to move media back and forth between my TiVos and my computer. Imagine how nice it would be to drag and drop stuff from a TiVo to a iPod.

"If anyone were to buy TiVo it would be...EchoStar"

I know it is healthy to laugh, but is it really healthy to laugh this hard this early in the morning? Things that will happen before EchoStar buys TiVo:

Steve Jobs will take over as CEO of MicroSoft.

All Linux users will install Vista and praise it endlessly.

Spammers will finally realize what they've really been doing, and kill themselves in a mass wave of guilt.

McDonald's and Burger King merge into a new restaurant, McKing.

It could solve their legal woes. EchoStar buys TiVo and then they own the patents and great DVR technology.

John makes me nuts - I swear every episode of Cranky Geeks will be my last because of the junk he spouts and yet somehow I can't quite give it up! I do wish he'd get a hair cut.
