Give tivo decode manager a shot. I haven't used roxio or popcorn, but have had good experiences with TDM.

I have it on my iBook, loving it as I can reconvert them to divx format

what I'd like to do is to burn them off to DVD so I can share them with the family and watch on TV. I've the Lost Season 3 ready to move outta the PC and onto discs...

I use TDM to save files to my macbook pro as mp4 files, and am able to edit the files with iMovie and burn them with iDVD.

ahh, haven't thought about that... will look into using the built-in goodness that is iLife!
