A quick check on the airline sites shows that flights to Toronto are still fracking expensive. No sign of the customary (for the past 2 years) BA long haul sale. Titta not happy.

Despite this, I need your help. I need you all to suggest a city (or town) for me to visit in Canada this September . Something not Toronto (because that's a given). Maybe ( Read more... )

Quebec City looks good... cynaera August 3 2006, 23:04:33 UTC

It might be further east than you want to travel, but still might be fun.

There's also Saskatchewan, which looks like it has a lot to offer...

Or, you could go to Victoria, B.C. It's a little touristy, but the cobblestone streets lend to the ambiance of the place. Plus, there are lots of great little pubs everywhere!

Thanks for your ideas! I'll check these links asap. Did you visit any of these places on your Canada trip?

Another great icon, btw! Very appropriate. :-)

Didn't make it to Quebec City (both times I was in Canada, I was traveling with people who didn't want to go outside the "norm." What a drag...), but I was in Victoria BC. Lovely, quaint, very "touristy"... I was with my then-husband, and it was New Year's Eve/Day. We walked down the cobblestone streets of Victoria, following the paper streamers into and out of taverns and shops - we ended up in a tavern (and I can't remember the name of it!) not far from where we stayed (and I can't remember that, either! Well, geez - it was 1983! Can you remember what you were doing then??? LOL!)

All I remember was that had I been alone, single, and much more clear-headed, I would have done a LOT more exploring, because there were a lot of great shops to see, and the ambiance was very conducive to creativity and therapy.

Uh, and thanks about the otters. Going for something completely different now...

So, who's that on your icon? Or is it just the general look? Either way, I approve.

Victoria, BC sounds lovely. The only problem from my POV is that it's on the other side of Canada from Toronto (= takes time and money). And I'm totally not on the ball with arrangements for this entire trip.
