[The room is a giant ballroom, decorated lavishly with emerald green and sapphire blue tapestries, bright chandeliers, a tiled dance floor with a mosaic of alchemist turning lead into gold, and lush green carpet elsewhere.
At the front of the room sits a golden throne and in this throne sits Rikku D'Chararek, youngest Lady King of the Kingdom Al Bhed. Behind her are several smaller thrones and chaise lounges--these are for her courtiers/courtesans/favored nobles/etc. The ball is serving a double purpose: to celebrate Rikku's coronation and to give Her Ladyship a chance to pick her Court so the seats behind her can be filled.
Rikku, other than being extremely happy at becoming King, is extremely bored. Despite being ruler, protocol says that the King can't partake in the coronation ball unless asked by a guest, which is why she's here and not there, having fun. And she so wanted to show off her coronation ballgown, too. The white silk dress made her stand out against all the greens and blues, and the soft green embroidery really brought out her eyes. Plus she could actually dance in this one.]
[[This is taking place in my latest AU--Al Bhed is the neighboring kingdom to Yevon, and until recently, Cid was King. Well, he stepped down to live the rest of his life in a sort of peace, only to realize that while Aniki was technically his heir, Rikku was the better choice. So there was a competition involving explosions and whatnot, and Rikku won by sheer talent. To appease Aniki, and because she's nice like that, she made him Prince Ambassador to Yevon and Zanarkand.
Al Bhed doesn't believe in having different titles for women (it implies inferiority to them), hence Lady King. If she wanted, though, Rikku could be Queen Rikku, but she likes Lady King better. Silly girl xD]]
