Ohhhhhhh The Mothers. My own mom managed to stay out of the politics. She was friendly with the mom's but just wasn't overbearing. It was fun for me and I loved it and worked hard--my parents never ONCE put pressure on me--I put all the pressure on myself!
Hopefully things will work out well switching studios. I know what a pain it can be, not to mention certain groups of girls just get along better than others and the moms have a huge influence over that behavior...
Ok, that's the part I don't miss about dance classes!
I've been asked as to why I haven't put my kids in the other studio and I can't seem to convey to them that I feel comfortable at OUR studio. *sigh* I know the receptionist there well she's another mother. I know most of the mothers of Angelica's dance classes, my husband tends to pick up Stacy and he's not really sociable with them so I know next to none (just 1 coz that girl is a grade above Stacy at her school) of the mother's from Stacy's class. I don't know any of the kids that would be Stacy's class at the main studio, Angelica knows a lot of the girls she will probably be in class with from team or just from competetiotion as they are on the other teams.
Sounds scary!! I was lucky that my academy was in a little town and thus there we were more of a big family. My mum was a doll and always volunteered to help during performances: help herding the girls, keep them calm, sew things at the last minute, and solve all the little tragedies that happened ^^ Once I left ballet I even helped like that a couple of times: I missed it sooo much!
So yeah, feel free to rant, it will be a new thing for me ;)
Read my response to ma_chelle in addition I will probably be ranting here as my husband does not really get the anxiety I have over this. *eye roll* I also don't want to discuss this in front of the kids as Angelica is already a bit wary of switching to this studio as she knows all the really good dancers (at her age) are there and most likely will be in some class with her and so she feels a bit insecure. I don't want Stacy to hear me talk about it either because she has no preconceived notions/opinions about this studio yet and I don't want to color her judgment of it. *sigh*
