Home Alone and Rambling

Jun 05, 2008 23:13

So I'm home alone at the moment. It's been an odd sort of week. We got a call from my hubby's aunt Lina(her husband is my mother in law's brother) that they are in NJ (they live in CA) because her brother passed away. The memorial was on Monday which I had already taken off because it was the girls' dress rehearsal that afternoon. I attended the ( Read more... )

I think you might have mentioned something about your aunt being a busybody in this post... lol

As someone who grew up dancing and can now look back on the fond memories, don't EVER regret letting them take the classes. They wouldn't do it if they didn't like it. For me, not only were the experiences great but I think it kept me out of trouble. It taught me to work hard for something I want, to have goals and take pride in myself. Only good things will come from it, trust me.

And I agree about Angelica going to the ceremony. It's a wonderful honor for her! I know how important rehearsals are at this point but the ceremony was a once in a lifetime thing and she will appreciate it at some point. ;)

Oh I don't regret putting them in.:) I grew up dancing too, it teaches quite a bit as you've mentioned. I just get irked by the fact that she keeps butting in about it. It's not like I'm asking her to pay for the classes you know?

I totally agree that it probably kept you ourt of trouble. That's one of the reasons I'm so glad Angelica is till doing it as I know where she is and who she is with. I mean obviously she has different school friends now than when she was in grammar school but the dance friends for the most part remain a constant, I know these girls and most of their parents. The ironic thing is that my busybody aunt has a daughter who was in dance classes everyday until she reached highschool then my aunt pulled her out. She fell in with a rather wild crowd, staying out til all hours and thankfully she never got into drugs but she almost did not graduate from HS and she's in the Philippines now at college and hitting the books properly. Those kids she used to hang with? I don't know whatever happened to them.

*hugs* They grumble at times, but when the start of the year rolls around they still want to register. I plan on keeping them in those classes for as long as I can.

None of his friends are into any sports etc? Maybe if he talks to them he'll have a better idea of what he'd go through. You could try karate or something, those things usually give a free first class so the kids can see how they like it or not. I'm sure he'll find something that he's interested in. My kids started early, Angelica saw my cousin in a dance recital at 3 and decided she wanted to do it too. Stacy grew up with Angelica dancing so she just kinda fell into it too.

Uggh I don't understand people not sharing info, it's so petty sometimes. Getting info last minute is a pain too because then you have to drop everything to make it or you just don't feel like doing it because the info is so last minute. ;P

I agree with ma_chelle and sagittariusgirl on the great thing that those classes are. I did dance too and it teaches you lots of things outside the dancing bit. And it's great for body position, as you get to control your whole body ( ... )

Oh it's really good for posture! I mean I tend to slouch a bit now but when I went to dorm in college, my roomates always asked how I could sit and stand so straight without my back hurting. LOL

I am so proud of Angelica, thanks!

I'm a bit of a museum nerd too and I must check out that site when I get home. :) Museum Mile is always so cool and there are tons of people. I am so jealous of that fisrt Sunday free admission thing! Go take advantage of that . . .
