I have 4 cousins in Iraq right now. That all have had multiple tours.

Despite the fact that my family is really close when my first two cousins went over it seemed like no one cared. As time went on I realized that they were too scared to talk about it. they wanted to ignore it and pretend that it was all just something they saw on TV around dinner time.

Eventually that goes away (sometimes I had wished that they would have continued to ignore it. there was a lot of drama)

Hopefully your in-laws snap out of it. If they ignore it for too long... well, I'll just say the therapy required to get over that is NOT fun.

as a side note:

My cousin John got married a few months (6 or 7) before he was deployed. I spent almost every day with his new wife while he was gone. I know first hand the pain and fear his wife experienced. Whatever you do don't let yourself be alone. Fine someone to lean on.

You both will be in my prayers.
