I am really sorry to hear about your friend... my father passed away from non Hodgkins Lymphoma that he got from AO while in Vietnam. He was diagnosed with it in the summer of 98... and was dead by December that year. I'm not really good at these things, but... I know what it's like.

I know only too well, from recent experience. My grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer last fall. He amazingly enough wANTED to go through treatment and has for the past 7 months or more now...at one point it spread to his brain but that got taken care of. Then most recently it spread to his liver..all the while the one in his lung was shrinking! It's not fair. I was just told today by my mom that the doctors gave him 6 months. If this is the case, that will be about a year since he was diagnosed..after he'd been doing SO well with the treatments. I know he's lasted a long time compared to others--especially considering he's smoked his entire life. IT's just sad and really unfortunate. I'm soooo sick of cancer. It's all you hear about lately. I'm just hoping I get some time with him..as he's in FL and I'm in NY. He'll be coming to my wedding in 3 weeks--we believe, and then hopefully I'll be able to go down there later in the summer....

This is really sad. I can only imagine what his wife and son are going through. I'm sorry to hear this bad news.
