As this is my third time in the US, I feel like I should be in a position to make some sweeping generalisations or insightful observations. I still find I'm left with just scattered observations. The toilet bowls have more water in (but smaller pipes?). There are more independent shops - independent delis rather than a tesco metro on every block

Ha, that Sales Tax thing must be so annoying!

Keep all your receipts - you can get a form from the airport or maybe when you get back to the UK to claim back the Sales Tax, as you are not a US taxpayer. At least that used to be the case.
