This is so lovely and the fact that you wrote this line The Jack Frost-Castiel brought it all in perspective to me. I immediately saw similarities with Cas and Jack Frost (Rankin-Bass production). They both tried their hardest to make things right without their love interest knowing. Hahaha, I have too many rambling feeling right now...
