Mr. Engel is crossing the cafeteria when he sees Dean sitting alone, staring into space as he chows down on his sandwich. He crosses almost gingerly, and Dean watches him come, feeling like he's watching a colt taking its shaky first steps

Oh! I just love the way Castiel can see past Dean's defenses to the real man underneath.

I have a feeling that this could be a VERY interesting friendship with a chance for more.
