I have a grudge against mine as well- they get in the way of my life. But, I can't live without them (quite literally)-- I can't see a foot in front of me.

Dude. -9 and -8.5 vision here. All I see without contacts or glasses is colors :( And my glasses are so thick that my eyes look TINY without 'em, I hate it.
