(I think she might also be considring bribing someone to write a "John and Gabriel fall in love and save the world" sequel to this). And saving the world is totally optional! XD Just save John, and I'll bake cookies. Or... something.
Yup. Read it three times now. Still awesome. Protective!John is my favourite.
Maybe you should elaborate on the something, I don't think you'll ever get to the stage with actual cookies. :P
There's not that much in it about John as a dad, but I just really wanted him to seem like he's damned well doing the best he knows how to. Because yeah, John fucked up a lot with the boys, but I'm convinced he damn well loved them more than anything else.
I agonised about that for a good while, but in the end I really just needed John to find out enough for the fic to work. And I figure, who knows how the Trickster thinks, he might have his own reasons for doing that. ;)
Now that's part of why I left it where I did, I don't need to figure out if he actually would tell John everything. This way is totally more awesome, since now I can just leave all that up to the reader. And they will have to think about things. *whistles innocently*
And no, not a huge surprise. XD (I'm not far behid you there.) Really, this fic was totally me trying to figure out if I could make John/Gabriel work for me. Turns out that, yeah, I can. :D
...a sequel would probably turn out as something very long. And I have more than enough of unfinished fics as it is. Except... well I kinda really want to see what would happen here. *headdesk* I don't have the time!
but still the question arises that if John knew about Sam, knew everything, would things be different? *stage whisper* Things would! Because John & Gabriel decide they're going to change things and not let the powers that be have their way! And Gabriel thinks John is sort of interesting to hang around and stays and helps and then they end up together and the boys grow up with a very peculiar family dynamic because the Trickster way of raising children is less than conventional.
...ok, sorry. Couldn't help myself. I'll just butt out now. >_<
