Photoshoot

Well, I'm out of starlings. Napoleon never really did take an interest in them. There were a couple rare occasions in which he did more than just look at a live starling, and actually approached it, but each time that happened, if the starling fought back in any way - flapped its wings, grabbed at him with a foot, etc. - he hopped off and took a perch somewhere and lost interest. He's obviously intimidated by them, but even with so many attempts (at least eight), he never really got over his starling fear. I'm still trying to work with him on it, using a frozen starling that I can prop up to make it look like it's standing, with quail meat tied to its chest, but he seems to have a hard time forming that search image. If all else fails, I'll try and hunt him on mice this winter, if I can find good spots for them.

But hey, you're all just here for the pictures anyway, so I'll give you those now. ;)

This morning, after a failed attempt at flying down at the park (a female kestrel chased us away), he got a bone on his perch after he left it on his lure. He loves these things, and will sit and pull at what little scraps of meat on them he can find, then just hold onto the bone like this like a happy dog. It's pretty funny. Sometimes he eats them, but today he eventually just gave up and dropped it.

FOOT.

Kestrel feathers are so pretty.

This is Napoleon's badass Myspace page. You know, for all those lady kestrels out there to swoon over.

DRAMA LIGHTING. FOR DRAMA.
