Australia is finally getting Veronica Mars - they've been promoting the shit out of it on Channel Ten. Big ads all through the Australian Idol final performance show - which is of the good, clearly. BUT. Fellow Aussies, please share my anger over the RIDICULOUS VOICE-OVER THEY'VE GOT GOING ON. They have an Aussie doing Veronica's voice-over ( Read more... )

VM is all about the voice-over, you see. Veronica is our unreliable narrator - we see her world almost entirely through her eyes. And it's a show with a hella lotta voice-over. The pilot especially. She tells us "This is me, this is where I live, these were my friends..." etc (paraphrased). So I guess the network wanted to promote it as faithfully as they could, and so used a voice-over (supposedly Veronica) to explain the quick cuts we see in the promo ad. And they used the exact script from the pilot, BUT THEY DIDN'T USE THE REAL VOICE-OVER, JUST SOME BREATHY EEDJIT PUTTING ON THE WORST AMERICAN ACCENT EVER EVER EVER.

I understand in that the words make sense and are in English, yet I still do not understand why they would do such a thing. I think we're in the same boat there, though, so I'll go with it.

Seriously, channel 10 should fire their PR/advertising type person, because their promos generally put me off watching the shows. AND YES, THE STUPID AMERICAN ACCENT ::headdesk::

I seriously almost spat at the screen I was so disgusted. Blech. (Plz don't let this promo put you off watching the show... please!)

I'm sure it's not news to any of you, but they are going to hang an Aussie boy in Singapore next Friday. Every time I think about it I feel sick.

This is why I never sent the boys there in Adventures. I will never do anything that might encourage anyone to ever go to that country for any reason. Especially because their "convictions" are often highly suspect.

Yeah I know. I don't think there's much doubt that he's guilty, but this is so far from any kind of justice; this is senseless, gruesome homicide. I'm absolutely disgusted.:(
