the first time it happens, kame doesn't even think twice. it's instinctual, natural, carpals and metacarpals click and shift underneath his skin like the mechanism of a lock as a key twists it open, as he loops his fingers with jin's ( ... )

I love this take on the whole Nobuta ordeal.
Supportive Jin is lovely and i adore your writing style. You've captured their moods and emotions wonderfully!

the first time it happens is the worst possible time. the dwindling sensation of desolation is only heightened when it hits kame square in the gut that it could also be the last.

there is no pretense to intimacy, no grasp at the moment as it flies by them with the speed of a force ten gale. it happens much like how kame learned how to drive: his engine dead underneath a green traffic light when he released the clutch to early and the car reared up. it feels like that, the way his control over a situation is hampered by his ineptitude ( ... )

kame refuses to break eye contact. he steels his resolve and challenges jin to finish his statement despite the riot of hail thundering inside his chest ( ... )

he shuts the door on jin and immediately tries to discard the image of jin framed by his doorway like a prize-winning photograph, regret rolling off him in waves that crested around kame and swarmed into his airways, his lungs, drowning him. all kame wants is to tear open his doorway and race to the stairwell before jin can leave and tell him everything he felt over the past few months, years, but never said. he leans his forehead against the cool grain of his door. no declaration of undying love or demonstration of his feelings for jin would change the fact that he would be boarding a plane headed for la the next day. kame wonders if he's giving up the best thing that's ever happened to him, but if jin can do a good job of forgetting kame, then kame is going to do an even better job. he's always been competitive ( ... )
