This was written for the weekly challenge community, tamingthemuse for challenge #348: papaya. This is my first week writing for the tamingthemuse challenge/comm, and I'm looking forward to see how many weeks in a row I can fulfil the prompts. I've spent most of the past week watching The West Wing instead of doing productive things, so I apologize for it's somewhat suspect ( Read more... )

This is very sweet! And I was especially impressed with this:

Words were important, were heavy, careful things, and right now, trying to put anxious, fragile feelings into speech, Willow felt as if she were trying to glue the pieces of a shattered glass back together, trying to fit each piece into just the right place, gently, so as not to nudge any of the others out of alignment.

She wished she could learn how to speak the way Oz did, communicating sentences in just words, telling stories with silences, but she was given to words

That's so lovely. I love the way you set up the quiet contrast between them, complementary rather than disruptive.

(Papayas are the ~best!)

Thank you so much! I think the way that the two of them complement each other, instead of being complete opposites, is one of the best things about their relationship. Willow and Oz always balanced each other well.

I have to tell you, I'd given up on Willow/Oz as a pairing b/c if kinda given up on Willow. Is gotten bogged down in all the crazy, all the character/personality flips and was stuck in a perpetual "No way this is the same char I fell I love with

(Argh mobile replies!)

Reading your stories, though, is making me a believer all over again. You captured the way they fit together...the spaces they fill for each other. And the cute! They were so adorable! Anywho, thank you.

Thank you so much!! I'm thrilled to hear that you're believing in Willow/Oz again! I'll admit, by season 6 I wasn't much of a Willow fan, but, for whatever reason, I've never stopped holding out hope for Willow/Oz. They were one of the healthiest, most functional relationships in a show full of relationships that were somewhat to very unhealthy, and they were just incredibly adorable!
Thank you again for such kind feedback! Your words definitely brightened up my day!
