Thank you! I've always thought it would be wonderful to wear a gorgeous wedding gown from the 20s or something, but since I didn't want to spend the entire day in a corset (I didn't even wear stockings -- perfect!) I figured I'd get a very simple, fairly-inexpensive cocktail dress (not a gown by any means)... then I found The Gown and ended up spending about 10 times what I'd planned. But I'm so glad I did; I love that frickin' gown.
I also insisted that I wasn't going to wear anything on my head other than my own hair -- but the lace on the mantilla matched the gown almost perfectly, and pyrric (who came with me to help me decide on the gown) said she wouldn't let me walk out of the bridal shop without it, so I figured I had little choice ;) In the end, I loved it. I was really going for the "simple and classy" look with that, so I'm glad you agree!
Thank you! I wish I had a close-up of the lacework and beading around the edges, it's really delicate and lovely... I'm wondering if I can't make something out of it that I'll use, maybe a table runner or something? My mom made my brother's and my christening gown out of her wedding gown, and I love the idea of bringing that thread forward into the rest of your life. Let me know if you have any ideas as to what I can do with the veil!
