"I’m afraid your library card is expired.“
"What? How? But-"
"I’m sorry, Miss, but we have to charge you 25 Dollars for a new one.“
"25 DOLLAR- I- Listen, I just need these vocal sheets for one day, I’ll return them by tomorrow. This is very important, you don’t understand-"
"25 Dollars, Miss… Berry, or no sheets. I’m very sorry.“ This was ridiculous. They made me, a poor student, pay 25 Dollars for 17 sheets of paper. How was this by any means justifiable? The bad smelling guy behind me started getting impatient and the library assistant stared at me, her crescent eyes looking bored and annoyed.
"But-" I protested again, which made the woman only dully shake her head, her thick locks swinging back and forth in slow motion.
"Fine,“ I gave up, looking for my wallet inside my purse. After only a few minutes of searching I finally found my money and paid for the overpriced pieces of paper. On my way out I took my phone out and dialed my dad's number. His voice mail answered.
“Dad? It’s me. I’ll need a little more money this month. Obstacles after obstacles… tell you later. Love you.“ I hung up and went outside the library where I felt a drop on my head. I looked up to see even more drops coming down on me. Great. Rain. Could my day get any worse? I went down the few stairs of the library while looking inside my purse for an umbrella when suddenly someone bumped into me. The collison startled me and I lost my balance for just a split second. Unfortunately this made me open my arms and release everything they were carrying including the vocal sheets I had just borrowed. They floated down towards the filthy ground like leaves on an October day and all I could do was watch them fly, my mouth opened in shock.
"Oh, I’m sorry!“ I heard a male voice saying, but I was too distracted by the mess that had just happened to care about who the owner of the apology was. I was about to get down to collect all the sheets back together when a car passed me by, rushing in the rain and sloshing mud all over the pavement where I was standing. There I stood, in the rain, in the middle of dozens of sheets, covered in dirt.
"Shit,“ the man cursed. He who was responsible for all this. He who I would kill as soon as I looked up to figure out who he was. I’m sure my eyes were glaring in fury. If there was such a thing as “killing someone with your looks” then I would be doing it, right in that second. My hands were balled into fists and my lips were pressed together, holding in all the anger that was about to burst out of me. I looked up to see who was careless enough to bump into Rachel Berry, ready to shoot him with my words, merciless and precise. Berry-style. However, all I found above me was a pair of helpless golden eyes looking down on me. For a second I couldn’t believe my own eyes. How was this even possible?
"You…“
"I’m so sorry!“ he repeated. I was almost certain that I was in shock. A real shock, after all. My eyes were locked onto his and my mind had stopped working. Was this one of my dreams, one where I didn’t want to wake up. Ever? That kind of dream that I had since my sophomore year of High School?
"You… you’re,“ I stuttered again.
"Oh, yeah. Hi, I’m Finn,“ he grinned, his dimples showing up. Finn. Finn was supposed to be in Ohio. It was true. It was a dream.
"And you’re-"
"I’m-"
"Rachel Berry! “

"And a little speechless, I guess,“ I laughed. Her mouth fell slightly open as I said her name. She squinted her eyes a tiny bit and one of her brows rose minimally. Her face looked as if I said the sun rose up from the west so I started giggling.
"What?“ I said.
“You… you know my name?“ She asked in disbelief. Now it was me who was confused. What kind of question was that? Was she trying to trick me? We went to school together, she was in my history class two years in a row. She was senior class president and sang in every event that was held at McKinley High. How could I not know her?
"Of course,“ I said. She smiled now, her big chocolate eyes still baffled.
"What… what are you doing here... Finn?“ she asked.
"I actually came to visit a friend but he’s at work right now so I wanted to discover the city a little. And then this happened,“ I pointed at her and the sheets at the ground. Oh god, I felt awful for what had happened. Everything was covered in mud.
"I’m so sorry. I really am.“ I got down on my knees to collect the rest of the sheets when she came down as well to help me.
"Oh that, that’s okay.“ I looked at her, our faces only inches away from eachother, raising a brow.
"You’re sure?“ She looked at me, kind of stunned. Her eyes were pointing directly into mine. "‘Cause this doesn’t look 'okay‘“ I said, wearing my apologetic crooked smile on my face while I held up the sheets in my hands.
"Yeah… I just…“ she blinked, "I just… I’ll replace them, it’s no big deal.“
"Oh no, you have to pay for them?“ Damn, this really was a mess and it was all my fault. "Well yeah,“ she avoided eye contact now, "I have to since no one will have any use for them anymore.“
"I’ll pay for it, it’s my fault after all,“ I offered.
"Oh no, you really don’t-"
"No, no I insist. It’s the least I could do after… well all this,“ I pointed at her, covered in mud embracing muddy sheets, looking like a wet puppy in the rain. I started laughing.
"What?“ Rachel asked. She looked so desperate that it made me crack up. But desperate in a cute kind of way.
"What??“ she repeated, laughing along with me now.
"Nothing,“ I lied. I looked up to the sky. It was still raining.
"Rachel?“ I asked. Her head turned around to me, raising both eyebrows now, so her eyes looked even bigger.
"Hm?“
"Do you know a good coffee shop around this area?“
"I do, why?“
"Well, it’s very wet out here and I’m getting cold. How about I buy you a drink?“ I smirked.
She smirked back.
