Urg. You know that you went for the cheapest flute you could find, when you already have to do the first patch jobs on it 3 weeks after purchase. Since yesterday I hadn't been able to play a Fa (F for English people) for the life of me. I kept thinking it was me not getting the blowing technique right until I discovered this morning that I could ( Read more... )

Oh dear! I can only claim in my defence that I've been doing nothing but Japanese revision since Thursday and I think my language centre died :-S You wouldn't believe how many typos I corrected in this entry, but there's one that escaped...
Thanks for helping with the idiom though!

Well, you seem to enjoy playing your flute a lot and you're doing quite well with it atm me thinks. I certainly reckon that you should keep it up and save to get a better one in a year or so's time. It'll be worth it, you've taken too it quite well me thinks.

I'm going to try to keep it up, but sadly my enthusiasm for instruments has a way of disappearing quite quickly. Mind you, the flute is the first "proper" (I'm not counting the ocarina here) instrument I'm learning because I wanted to. I learned the recorder because my mum wanted me to; I learned the guitar, because my dad wanted me to and my godfather had given me one and I learned the clarinet because two of my close friends were learning it and it was somehow "cool". So hopefully I'll keep at it. I just want to be on the safe side - a decent flute can easily cost around 200 to 400 pounds - and that would be a massive waste of money, if it just ended up in a corner...
We shall see really - if you can keep up the guitar, I can keep up the flute :-P

I know! For all the other instruments I learned, I always had some sort of sponsor - normally a parent who wanted me to learn said instrument and hence would provide me with everything needed... The flute is the first instrument I'm wanting to learn for me - I'm just not sure if I can do that without another sponsor :-S Lovely parents? Are you already searching for a Christmas/Birthday present for me? Search no longer, I've got just the thing you could get me!
