I’m so happy to have her back. She’s my sister, my last real family. But, it hurts that he doesn’t see me anymore. I had the whole summer to tell him how much I loved him, to tell him that I needed him. Maybe if I had then he’d be here right now, holding me until I fall asleep, like he used to. But, he wants her. He’s always wanted her.
He’ll forget about his “nibblet,” the girl he promised to keep safe until the end of the world. He’ll never know that for one summer, he was my everything.
