The Bags are Packed, We're Ready to Go!

The flight was only a little shorter than the one they'd taken to Helsinki some months before, but this was characterized dominantly by napping, between watching bits and pieces of Star Wars. (Poor Eduard, he missed so many scenes... every time he got talking about it Gilbert suddenly had to go to the bathroom again... oye ( Read more... )

Berwald laughed out loud at the sign and stooped to scoop Eeva up in a massive bear hug. He then turned his "glare" on "the new boy"... he was sure in some dimension of mind that he was "the alpha male" in lieu of oh her father, her uncle and well TINO... and it was his "duty" as an honorary Vainamoinen to give the assessment of her beau and grant him approval.

The sign was a good check mark in the positive for the rather nerdy looking youth.

But before he would truly put him to "the test" introductions needed to be made.

"Eeva, these are our roommates. I'm sure you've heard of Mathias and Siguard. I know you already know Eduard more than I do and the obnoxious German is Gilbert Beilschmidt." Berwald introduced hooking his arm around Tino's shoulders.

Berwald hefted two large buckets and set out toward the lake pausing at Gilbert. "There is Cheese. Bonhost, Herrgårdsost, Hushållsost, Prästost, and Västerbottensost will either be aging in the larder or ready to eat in the cold house. Some may even be smoking in the smoke house. We're Swedes here, of course there is at least cheese. I bet you'll find plenty of REAL KORV probably made from wild boar hanging in the smoke house too. We're all from Germanic roots rövhål." Berwald said rolling his eyes at the German who thought in only three food groups. Korv, ost and öl. (Sausage, Cheese and Beer.) Before heading off toward the lake to fill his burden and bring back water to dump into the barrels in the long house ( ... )

"Are you sure this isn't going to be too much?" Eeva asked, tossing the browned meat into the cauldron that Siguard was stirring. (He was loving the proximity to the fire, the little warmth-sucking leech.)

The Norwegian and Finn answered in unison. "No."

Siguard added: "If anything, we're going to have to serve bread in addition, these men eat more than you'd think."

"Oh my."

"Oh yes."

Linus just chuckled over there, peeling potatoes with a knife (it looked like an awkward endeavor for him as his hands were so big and he was trying to peel a rather small potato.) "I never ate much, work always distracted me, since I started dating Eeva though I've gained ten pounds."

"Because I feed you and make sure you eat." she chortled, waving a wooden spoon in his direction. "So Eduard, you having fun over there peeling and chopping carrots?" She teased, snatching a piece of carrot from the Eesti and popping it in her mouth. Eeva was like Tino, she tasted everything while cooking.

When Eeva stole a piece of the pile of carrots he had been chopping, Eduard flung a peel at her with his tonuge stuck out in a cheeky bit of retaliation. "You and Gil both! Is this your sneaky way of getting carrots left out of the meal? I've got one of you stealing pieces and one of you trying to molest me. What the H?" He laughed, straightening his glasses before returning to dicing the vegetables ( ... )
