You know, that's a really interesting point. At the beginning, I would definitely say that's true - and then things happen gradually (saving Cain's life, the fight with the Longcoats, the flashback in the cabin) so that he gradually recovers/reveals his skills and some of his memories and gains the respect of the others.
But then I thought - WAIT! That's true of EVERYBODY!
I mean, Cain starts out brusque and seemingly heartless, but he gradually recovers/reveals his compassion and ability to love, as we see especially with his interactions with Jeb. And Raw seems cowardly, but he has to find the courage that's within him.
And DG has to do all those things - recover her memories and skills (in magic), rediscover and express her love for Azkadellia, and demonstrate her innate courage - her journey is all their journeys put together.
The flashback in the cabin and the brain thing is the only time he's got something to do other than comic relief.
Cain's reveal is gradual and something you can watch throughout the series. It's treated with great gravity.
As is DG's.
Point is: Glitch isn't given the seriousness that you'd imagine a guy who had his brain removed for the sake of Queen and Country. I'm not objecting to the odd joke - Cain makes a few himself.
And poor Raw. Mostly in the background, bless him.
IIRC, ADD is a slang term for people who are missing the hyperactivity portion of the ADHD syndrome, but it's not actually a medical term. I could be wrong though. (My son has ADHD. I have ADD, which means that I'm ADHD and lazy.)
Into each fandom, a woobie is born. One character in all the canon, a chosen one. One born with the emo and whumpability to attract the fangirls, to aid the volume of their squee and the adorkability of their fic.
For this, you must die! Um ... that would sound a lot more convincing if I had, like, an Illya Kuryakin icon or a URL on the tip of my tongue...
He was the cute blond Russian guy on the Man from U.N.C.L.E. (The only M.U.N.C.L.E. icon I have, unfortunately, is of the other guy.) He suffered oh-so-beautifully onscreen and even more in fanfic.
Umm...not a huge Glitch girl. (Gimmee the cowboyish Cain any day.) I think he has his adorkable moments, though. I like him, but I don't lurf him, if you know what I mean.
Stupid question warning: What's a grue? *iz confuzzled*
The first mention of grues in the Zork games is the following ominous line:
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
Further investigation will reveal more about their nature:
> what is a grue? The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

I'm ambivalent about Glitch. I like him in some parts, but he's def not my fave character. He just...does nothing for me, tbqh.

The actor grew up to play Ducky on NCIS.

There's a Tin Man fic in there somewhere... In fact, someone should do an entire TinMan!Zork fic!

You are in a large wicker birdcage. Tied to the ceiling is a headcase. There is a hole in the floor. Obvious exits are DOWN.
