Zero shuddered with rage as he raised his foot and slammed through the door. The door flew open, slamming against the wall and throwing it off one of its hinges. The two occupants inside leapt up in terror.
The man pulled out a knife but Zero took a single wide step and whacked it out of his hands. The only sound in the room was the twang of the knife buried deep in the wall and soft sound of the woman weeping. "Take him outside," Zero growled.
"Sir?" an uncertain voice spoke behind him.
"DO IT!" His men hurried to comply, leaving Zero alone with the woman. She barely looked at him, shivering with fear. He approached her but she hurriedly shuffled over to the far side of the bed, her back to the wall. He sat on the bed. "There's a village," he whispered to her softly. "To the east... Gale's Creek. Go there. They'll take good care of you." The woman stared at him as if he'd grown another head. "I'm sorry."
He got up from the bed and walked out, placing the battered door near the frame, blocking the outside. His men were still holding him. His anger returned as he approached him. Bending down beside him, he didn't raise his voice. "You disobeyed my orders. No rape. I told you that."
"Sir, I..." whatever his pathetic excuse was, Zero wasn't interested so he didn't get to finish. The man cried out in pain as Zero threw a punch at him. He pulled out his own knife and the cry grew louder as each man witnessing winced in unison. A few were sick.
"What are you doing!?" General Lonot barked. "Zero? Step away from him and explain!"
Zero followed orders and stepped away. Then he pulled out his gun and fired. The man fell dead, a hole set in the centre of his forehead. Lonot's eyes were bulging and he could barely contain his nervousness as Zero approached him. "What the hell...? You're supposed to be on our side!"
Zero looked at him. "He disobeyed orders. MOVE OUT!" his men hurried to comply.
