I think that that's fair. I haven't been anywhere where Caller ID wasn't a paid-for feature after the first few months or so... so I've never bothered getting it.
I was very excited when I finally got a phone that could show caller ID! But before I had caller ID I would just let all my calls go to voice mail, unless I was actually expecting a call.
Now that I think about it, though, the registry thing has helped a lot. On the rare occasions my phone rings, it's someone I actually want to talk to.
Even before the registry, our provider (Primus) had a great Telemarketing Guard feature, whereby you could block anybody you want (even if you don't have caller ID), and force them to record a name and/or justification for calling you before they would be allowed through. Automatic diallers are automatically stymied. ;)
Yeah, I switched to Primus not long before the registry, so theoretically I had (have) that too... but I hadn't really entered enough #s to notice a difference before it came into effect.
Or maybe I was doing it wrong... I keep trying to set up a password for my voice mail but it doesn't seem to work, and I can't really be bothered to sit down and figure it out.

I should get back into the habit of frequent, useless polls. It would get me posting more often, if nothing else.
