I've always admired your ability, and your interest, when it comes to writing Ed Mars, and this did not disappoint. Him repeatedly calling her a little girl is freaky but works wonders in this piece. Great fic!

How did Mars become the creepiest character on Lost? Seriously, I would rank him behind Ben and Abbadon and early orange-in-the mouth Locke in terms of giving me the heebie jeebies. You've captured that so well here. It's all in his attitude of hiding behind his badge but you get the sense he gets off on the power he holds over Kate. It must remind her of Wayne. You can sense her constant seething in his presence. Excellent work!

He is creepy, isn't he? (And funny that you mention orange in the mouth Locke - that, to me, was one of the most chilling moments the show has ever had.)

I always have fun playing around with Ed Mars. Not sure what it says about me, but his voice is one that seems to come easier to me when I write. I just wish we got to see more of him on the show, but I'm afraid his time may be done.

ohhhh! that is FANTASTIC! you are definitely the person that made me want to know more more more about Ed Mars, you just... you get him so well. he's creepy and obsessed and perfect. then there is your Kate, defeated but with still this spark deep in ready to fight. the tension all they way through and the atmosphere... awesome. thank you so, so much sweetie, this is a great gift :)

I've always wished that the show itself would do a little more exploring of whatever passed between these two. We've gotten hints of things here and there, but from the interactions on the island and in Kate's first flashback, it just feels like there should be more. I suppose that's why I tend to write these two as much as I do. Plus, Ed is just a lot of fun. I enjoy the creepy voice :-)
