I loved this. The imagery is very strong, and so are the other senses, like the chime of the chapel bells and the tiny silver charms.

Well done. I imagine if this was filmed, all the key sounds would appear a little off, maybe too loud or too quiet but very present. Nice connections between the poem's themes and Shannon's experience with control and illusions. I feel stupid for not knowing Richard Cory was a poem. I always thought it was a Simon and Garfunkle song.

The poem is one I had to read in college and one that kind of always stuck with me. I'm not sure how it occured to me to use it here, but I'm glad you thought it worked.

I miss her, too! The sad thing is that I never really cared much for the character when she was still alive. Now I wish she was still there.

oh wow. this has a very special atmosphere, very true to Shannon. I didn't know the poem, and the little bit at first combined with the whole poem at the end totally worked for me. the way it relates to her... wow.

There is so much imagery in here, so much to it that makes it so clear in my mind. The bells, the charms, all of the little details in this. I miss Shannon, and you're one of the few left who still write her -- and do it right.
