I really enjoyed the pilot. I am also a fan of Sherlock, but I think JLM's Holmes is a bit closer to canon Holmes. I have read many of the short stories but I'm not one to harp on the fact that it is or isn't canon. I'm a fan of if you don't like it don't watch. Some people can get really nasty and act like Moffatt is the only one allowed to write anything Holmes. It's crazy.

See, I don't know canon Holmes from the novels or anything... I just knew he was a different kind of Sherlock than the Cumberbatch one and I liked it. Yeah, a big fan of that way of thinking as well.
