are you still jumping out of windows in expensive clothes?

Helloooo. It's fast receding into the mists of time, but I feel a bit guilty that I didn't manage to say anything very cheerful about Ethiopia. It's rather a bugbear of pretty much everyone who ever goes to Ethiopia that all people tend to know about is the 1987 famine and TV coverage and Bob Fucking Geldof, and they get a bit shrill about how IT'S ( Read more... )

Oh GOD, that foot. Not the living foot - the mummified one sticking through the wall. These are most excellent. I love the babies in the basins most of all. They're very winning. And the big tall ... stony ... things, and the round villagey houses and the blue buses just like the ones they have in Lost and the WALLS. And all the other ones. And the people selling salt. I'd love to buy a glass of salt, and then walk along trying to drink it and generally upsetting people. Hurrah.

Ahaha, that foot! I was debating putting a CORPSE WARNING on the cut tag and then I thought no, corpses don't count if they have been dead for HUNDREDS OF YEARS. The babies in the basins are one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. Some of them were PLEASED and some of them were DISGRUNTLED and some of them were BOTH AT ONCE. ♥ Do they have blue buses like that in Lost? I thought Lost was set on an island. HOW DO THEY GET THEM THROUGH THE JUNGLE? Your salt wish is a very good one, I hope you one day achieve it.

*bounce* IT WAS VERY GOOD. Do you mean the cave-y Biblical one? Ooh, it was actually like a corridor they'd excavated around the BACK of the church proper and there was all HAY on the floor so you could lie on the HAY in the COOL DRY SHADOWY CAVE and GLOAT and COMTEMPLATE TAKING UP FULL-TIME RESIDENCE IN A CAVE. WHICH I THINK WOULD BE PRETTY EASY. *twirls you*

Wow that is awesome. I forgot about all those rock cut churches, they look pretty awesome. Also those hills going on forever!

I am sponsoring a girl in Ethiopia, I just started and I haven't heard back from her yet so it is nice to see pictures of the country and the people.

World Vision, I kept seeing their ads on TV and went on their website. It seems like a cool way of giving and making a connection.
Besides sponsoring a kid for 10 years is cheaper than a wedding, which seems kinda odd to me.
