Early Spring as Usual

Mar 02, 2011 17:21

Spring has sprung
The grass has riz
I wonder where
The flowers is

Taught to me by a big honkin' Redneck friend. I loved her dearly. My paternal grandmother's version was a tad different. I loved her dearly, too.

Spring has sprung
Fall has fell
Summer's here and
It's hotter than Hell.

funny, poetry, spring

I have heard it as "Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder what this white stuff is..." (Utah is notorious for having one last big blizzard just when you think it's safely spring).

I had the Bronx version here in mind when I wrote the frog poem a couple of entries back in my LJ.

I was waiting for someone to say 'I know where you got that from!' but nobody did...

My grandmother (from PA) taught it to me when I was little as:

Spring has sprung
The grass has riz
I wonder where
The boys all is.

(because it was finally weather to go out boy hunting apparently! woo for spring fever!)
