Whether someone is pretty / beautiful / gorgeous is relative... Plus everyone likes flattery, whether it's obsequious or just a boost for self esteem

Hmm okay let me rephrase. I'm okay when people compliment or even flatter people to some extent, but when the original comment drags into a conversation like "No babe you're prettier" "Hahaha please look who's talking sexy chick" "Sexy?? You la please" etc. it gets really, really annoying
