The Brothers Chapter 2:
The Accident]

Summary: Yuri didn't pay attention in class because he was distracted by Yamada. Yuto, Ryutaro, Hikaru and Keito made their entrance. Haha.
The class continued as usual, as per normal but for Yuri, something is different. He wasn't paying much attention like he usually did in class. He didn't need to anyway, if he needs tuition, his brothers would definitely teach him willingly.
Time to time, he would sneak a glance at Yamada who was beside him, paying close attention to class.
He observed him whenever he could. He watched how Yamada takes notes, how he listens in class. He noticed every detail. How he drinks, where did he place his stationary, how would he shift in his position, how he would put his hair back behind his ear when it fells down when he writes.
Surprisingly, class passed faster than usual for Yuri that day as he abandon his attention for the teacher's words and focus on Yamada's actions instead.
What he found out, when school's almost over, was that Yamada loves twirling his pencil when he's waiting or thinking. He realised that he would cross his leg and shift his position after sitting up straight for too long.
He realised Yamada prefers to use a pencil rather than a pen when writing.
He realised Yamada would frown slightly and cock his head to the side when he couldn't understand something.
He also realised that when Yamada is slightly frustrated, he would unconsciously reach up and arrange his hair.
All these small details were noticed and Yuri made a note to remember them. He smiled when he saw the different expressions of Yamada in class. He smiled when he caught Yamada yawning and covering his mouth in embarrassment. He smiled when Yamada blushed and look around to see if anyone saw him.
Throughout lessons that day, Yuri managed to sneak glances at Yamada and observe him without being caught.
Even so, there were still a few moments where Yamada suddenly turned around as if he felt someone looking at him and Yuri had to quickly look away and pretend to do something else and wait before checking if the coast is clear.
Whenever that happens, he would blush, fluster around and hurriedly grab a pencil and stare in front at the teacher. Pretending to take notes or look bored so that it would look as if he was listening instead of staring somewhere else.
And whenever that happens, Yamada would grin slightly and turn back to his notes, pretending as if he didn't notice.
The last bell rang, indicating the end of the boring lesson and also the end of school. Yuri started packing up his things and while doing so, he noticed Yamada stretching as he got up from the seat and leaving the classroom.
"Eh? Yamada-kun. You're not going home?"
"Hmm? Oh. I'm studying with my friends later...."
"In school?"
Yamada was about to reply him when he heard a familiar "Yama-chan!!!" and turned around just in time to steady himself for Yuto's hug. Yuri watched as Yamada let Yuto hug him, slightly blushing on his face but smiling nevertheless. To be honest, he was jealous. He never had any close friends and from the hug, he could see that that Yamada's really close with him.
"I miss you so much!"
Yamada nodded as he pried Yuto off himself and smiled back to him.
"I miss you too Yuto."
He had been friends with Yuto ever since they were young and when his parents announced that he would be moving, both of them were really sad. But now, he's back to the same neighbourhood and studying in the same school as Yuto. Nothing could be better.
He watched as 3 of his other friends entered the class behind Yuto, smiling at him.
"Okaeri, Yama-chan."
He smiled as he went up to Yamada, Yuto stepping aside and allowing them to hug each other.
Ryutaro nodded at him and caused Yamada to laugh out loud.
Same old Ryutaro.
Hikaru was last as he entered the classroom, slight bouncing and grinning at Yamada.
He went up to him, did their usual handshake and slapped him on his back.
"Hikaru-kun!"
It hurt but the pain never stop the smile from Yamada's face, he was practically radiating happiness as he beamed at his friends.
"Tadaima."
Hikaru slung his arm over Yamada's shoulder and ruffled his hair with the other causing him to frown slightly and reach up to comb his hair back.
Yuri stood at the side, watching all of this. He felt as if he was in another world, in another atmosphere.
He could see their bond, their friendship and their closeness just by the short interaction between them.
Suddenly, he felt lonely.
It's not as if he didn't have any friends. He is popular in school. But there aren't any close ones and none like what he's seeing between Yamada and the other 4 guys.
"Chinen-kun?"
He looked up and found Yamada looking closely at him. Concern written all over his face.
"Daijoubu?"
He nodded as he gave Yamada a soft smile.
"Hontou?"
Yuri nodded once again as he looked from Yamada to the 4 guys standing behind him.
Of all people, he had to be the one to see through me. Is it that obvious?
Yamada noticed his glance and gave him an apologetic look.
"Ah, gomenasai. They're my friends. This..." He pulled Yuto over "....is Yuto. My childhood best friend."
"Hai. Nakajima Yuto desu. Yoroshiku!"
He held his hand out and Yuri looked at it. He could feel Yuto's energy radiating from him, the cheerfulness rolling off him. Yuto was beaming at him and Yuri can't help but smile back, feeling slightly better.
"Yoroshiku."
He took Yuto's hand and let him shake it hard. His face must have showed something because Yuto suddenly laughed.
"Chinen Yuri desho?"
"Eh?"
"Of course I know who you are. But... I was wondering, can I call you Chii? It's so much easier."
"Eh?"
"I shall call you Chii from now on. Ok?"
Yuri nodded as he stared at Yuto. Nobody has every volunteered to give him a nickname before. Nobody except for his brothers. It felt nice. It felt good. It feels as if his relationship with Yuto just got closer and that feeling warmed his heart.
Yamada smiled and whacked Yuto gently on his head as he stepped away from Yuri. Yuto stuck out his tongue at Yamada playfully and went to stand beside Keito.
"This, is Keito and that's Ryutaro."
They both nodded at Yuri and Keito gave him a soft smile.
"Lastly, this is...."
"Hikaru-kun?!"
"Dai-chan?"
Hikaru and Yuri exclaimed at the same time as they all turned to the source of the voice. Daiki entered the classroom, his usual routine when school ends. To pick Yuri up and go back home together.
"Gomen na, Chii. I was held up for a moment...."
He apologised to Yuri as he walked towards them, snaking in between the tables and chairs.
"...and Hikaru-kun, what are you doing here?"
Daiki looked at Hikaru as he reached the gang.
"Looking for my friend..?"
"Oh."
"Dai-chan, you know him?"
Daiki nodded and went over to Yuri.
"He's in Yabu and Inoo-chan's class. Are you done?"
"Oh.. um..."
Yuri glanced over to Yamada who was looking at them curiously.
He wanted to stay badly. To stay with Yamada, to stay with his friends and maybe join their study session but Yuri didn't say that out, instead he nodded and let Daiki hold his hand and lead him out.
"Ja."
Daiki nodded to Hikaru before he walked out and Yuri managed to turn around and wave at them before Daiki pulled him out of the classroom.
