Nick stepped into the burned out remains of the house and spotted Catherine across the room. He approached her and sat his kit down on the floor.
"This is a mess," He spoke while waving dust out of his face.
"That's what comes from walking through unsettled ashes, Nicky," Catherine explained before waving him to follow her down the hallway.
"What's back here?"
"This," She replied as she drew him into her arms and kissed him leisurely.
Nick wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her gently off her toes as he kissed her. When their lips parted, he smiled languidly, "Hmmm, what was that for?"
"I had to rush out before you woke up," She explained, "I wanted to make it up to you."
"In that case, I think I could use another one of those," He grinned before he lowered his lips to hers, exploring her mouth slowly.
"Argh Hmmm."
The sound of someone clearing their throat behind them caused Nick and Catherine to part and look down the hallway.
"Grissom's coming, guys," Greg grinned, his smile practically a rival to the neon of the Strip, "Just a warning."
"Thanks Greg," Catherine smiled as she looked back to Nick, "You know he's going to blab to the entire lab."
"Yeah," Nick agreed, "But I don't really care."
"Me either," She smiled before kissing him once more quickly, "We should get back to work though before Grissom has a fit."
"Promise me that we'll pick up where we left off after shift," He whispered softly to her as she started to pass him by.
"It's a date," Catherine promised before she began snapping photographs of the crime scene. Being with Nick had given her new life, and she was fully open to exploring every aspect of it in their time together.
